The working principle of electromagnetic flow meter is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. When the conductive liquid moves in the magnetic field and cuts the magnetic field lines, an induced electromotive force E perpendicular to the direction of movement and the direction of the magnetic field will be generated at both ends of the conductor. This electromotive force E is proportional to the flow rate V of the conductive liquid and can be expressed as E = BLV, where B is the magnetic induction intensity, L is the length of the conductor (here, the inner diameter of the measuring tube), and V is the speed of cutting the magnetic lines of force (i.e., the flow rate of the fluid) .
 
The structure of the electromagnetic flowmeter mainly includes magnetic circuit system, measuring conduit, electrode, shell, lining and converter. The magnetic circuit system is used to generate a uniform DC or AC magnetic field, and the measuring conduit is a channel for the conductive liquid to be measured to pass. The electrode is used to elicit an induced potential signal that is proportional to the measured value.

 
 
In the electromagnetic flowmeter, the conductive medium in the measuring tube is equivalent to the conductive metal rod in the Faraday test, and the two electromagnetic coils at the upper and lower ends generate a constant magnetic field. When a conductive medium flows through it, a voltage is induced, which is measured by two electrodes inside the pipe. The function of the converter is to amplify and convert the induced potential signal into a unified standard signal, while suppressing the main interference signal.
 
Electromagnetic flow meters have many advantages, such as measurement is not affected by changes in fluid density, viscosity, temperature, pressure and conductivity; there are no obstructing flow parts in the measurement tube, no pressure loss, and low requirements for straight pipe sections; reasonable selection of sensor lining and electrode materials , that is, it has good corrosion resistance and wear resistance; the converter has low power consumption, stable zero point, and high accuracy; it can display forward and reverse flow rates, and has a variety of output modes.
 
Therefore, electromagnetic flowmeters are widely used in sewage treatment, petrochemical industry, metallurgy, electric power and other fields to measure the flow of various conductive liquids.
